Bruce Brewington avoids a pole!

Greetings all racers & skiers/boarders past-present-and future!

Online Racing Registration is now open. The Racing Board has an exciting schedule set and we welcome skiers of ALL abilities to join in the fun. The racing fee will be $85.00 [$88.00 if paying by paypal] .

I do encourage everyone to think about joining our team and experiencing the fun, the camaraderie, and the chance to improve ones techniques on the snow. As racers we have the opportunity to purchase discount lift tickets on the day of the race. We usually have a group dinner on that weekend. { The dinner menu has ranged from fresh crab, lasagna, chicken, abalone and more)

Something special we are doing this year for people who want to give racing a try; we will offer a discount to 'rookie-first time' racers at the first race of the year.

Normally a 'drop-in' who wanted to give racing a try would be charged $20.00 per race. At the first weekend only the fee will be $10.00. If you want to join the team, that charge will be credited toward the seasonal fee. This gives you the chance to run a Giant Slalom course on the Exhibition Run at Squaw Valley. You would get at least two timed runs and depending on those times, possibly even more.

The online registration site is at: www.slracing.org/index.html

Checks can be made out to 'San Francisco Ski Club' [indicate Racing in memo section] and mailed to our post office box at:
SF Ski Club
P.O. Box 470164
SF, CA 94147

If you prefer to pay the Racing dues through PayPal, follow this link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=NDAL2GUCNK3A2

You will be charged $88.00 which will include the fee.

If you have any questions, contact me at : johnwalsh37@sbcglobal.net

Hope to see you all soon on the slopes. Don't be shy about doing a snow dance!

General Info

Skiers and Snowboarders!

The San Francisco Ski Club participates in Singles League Racing.  Both skiers and snowboarders are welcome to join our race team.

The season comprises a series of seven to nine races, starting in December or January and ending in March.  The courses alternate between slalom and giant slalom. League races are held at the Lake Tahoe resorts, drawing participants from each of the singles clubs in the Bay Area. All competitive levels of racing are welcome, from beginners to elite standing.  Yes, that includes snowplowing beginning skiers!  You will race against other participants of similar ability.

These are strictly amateur events.  Pins, trophies, and the undying admiration of your club are some of the rewards.  Racers who have participated during the regular season are also permitted to represent the Singles League in the Northern California finals, held at one of the Lake Tahoe resorts in March, and in the Far West Championships, held in March or April, at a different west coast venue each year.

More About Snowboard Racing

The Singles League was the first skiing organization to include snowboard racing in  the race schedule. Snowboarders race on the same dates and on the same courses as skiers.  Pins and trophies are awarded, and points count towards the club totals.  You may ski and board in the same race if you choose.

The San Francisco Ski Club fully embraces this exciting sport, and hopes to see you on the hill.

Racing Spirit

Racing can be fun.  It's as competitive or as frivolous as you want.  There are many benefits that come with racing, like camaraderie amongst the clubs, and special suites at functions.  Best of all is that, at whatever level you ski or board now, you will learn to ride better!

Anyone participating in the regular season has the right to take part in additional races (at modest added cost) at the Nor-Cals (held at a different Tahoe resort each season) and at the Far West Championships (held at a beautiful destination somewhere in the far west).
