Silver Mountain Resort near Kellogg has the longest gondola in the world and 1,500 acres of ski terrain. Other popular activities for families include tubing and winter hikes, while an indoor water park promises year-round family fun with slides, a man-made river, and a surf simulator. Package promotions at Silver Mountain Resort include options for Splash and Stay or Ski and Stay reservations.

Amenities at Morning Star Lodge include fireplaces, a fitness center, rooftop hot tubs and deck, and storage for recreational equipment. And accommodation here always includes access to the Silver Rapids Water Park.

For day trips from Spokane accommodations, Mount Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park offers year-round hikes and scenic views from the slopes. The park has nearly 37 miles of Nordic ski trails and over 18 miles of snowmobile trails. Throughout the park, visitors can snowboard and snowshoe on the designated trail system.

Big sky, Montana

Big Sky is a winter wonderland for skiers and snowboarders, with generous snowfall across its 5,850 skiable acres. As the third largest ski resort in North America, even experts will find a challenge here, although entry-level sports are appealing to families of all sizes and abilities.

For non-skiers who love winter, Big Sky offers horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling, as well as cross-country ski trails. There are also snow coach tours to Yellowstone National Park for those who prefer to relax under expert guidance.

Kids will also have fun playing hockey and the city’s full-size ice rink, with toboggan options behind downtown. For wellness enthusiasts, yoga sessions are offered year-round with spa treatments available at resorts in the area. In history ? The Crail Ranch Homestead Museum tells the story of Big Sky’s first ranching family who worked the land for half a century before TV news anchor Chet Huntley bought the land and began what was to become Big Sky.

Yet Big Sky is not only known for its mountainous terrain. Big Sky is surrounded by an abundance of rivers, alpine lakes, and mountain streams, where fishing and exploring provide a scenic backdrop.

New for this season is Montage Big Sky, which opens on December 15 and is located in the center of Spain’s Big Sky enclave. The resort offers suites with a modern mountain design with local woods and stones. The property has an on-site restaurant, pub and games room with a bowling alley, as well as an indoor lap pool and a family pool. Additional on-site amenities include a fitness center, luxury spa and ski services.

Visitors won’t find single-use plastic here, but will certainly find an incredible assortment of outdoor adventures for the family.

Over the past year, Gold Run Nordic Center has doubled its rental fleet of large bikes, while Breckenridge has expanded its already extensive groomed trail network. A new free toboggan run has also been added for family fun. Breckenridge Ski Resort will also be celebrating its 60th anniversary throughout the upcoming winter season.

Popular family activities in Breckenridge during the winter season include sleigh rides, dog sledding, cross country skiing, and skiing or tubing on the trails. Other outdoor activities include snowshoeing or a scenic snowcat excursion while exploring the city’s historic sites on foot or by bike.

Another new addition to town is an auction room at the Broken Compass Brewing Company and an interactive spirits lab at the Breckenridge Distillery. Another newcomer, Tin Plate and Dynamite Cookies, specializes in pairing beer with sourdough pizza and homemade cookies.

Comfortable winter accommodation can be found at Gravity Haus, located in the village of Breckenridge and directly at the foot of the mountain.
