How to watch ski jumping at the 2022 Winter Olympics on NBC and Peacock

0

Consistently among the most impressive sports at the Winter Olympics, ski jumping returns to the 2022 Winter Games with a bigger slate of competitions than ever before. NBC and Peacock will be there to capture it all.

Six events contested over 10 days punctuate the calendar of the Zhangjiakou Ski Jumping Center including, for the first time, mixed team competition. The program also includes the traditional men’s normal hill, large hill and team events, as well as – for only the third time at the Olympic Games – a women’s normal hill event.

The United States is chasing its first Olympic medal in ski jumping in 98 years, and the 25-year-old Chicago native Kevin Bickner may be the Americans’ best chance to improbably end the streak. Bickner finished in the top 20 in both individual events four years ago in PyeongChang and left the World Cup circuit this season to focus on training for the Winter Games. He runs away with the title at the American Ski Jumping Trials in December to book his place in Beijing.

USA also has one representative in the women’s individual event: 21 years old Anna Hoffman, which also emerged victorious in the US trial. This alone, however, was not a guaranteed place at the Games. Hoffman had to wait for the reallocation of Olympic quota places at the end of January to obtain the official green light.

The fight for gold in the men’s individual events should come down to the silver medalist in the 2018 team event Karl Geiger from Germany and Japan Ryoyu Kobayashi, the two leaders of the World Cup standings. Among women, the 20-year-old Austrian Marita Kramer comes in as a prohibitive favorite after winning more than half of all World Cup events contested this season.
