HUNTSVILLE — One of the Ogden area’s most popular ski resorts is getting a facelift.
Snowbasin, one of three ski areas in Weber County, announced Thursday it will be part of the Ikon Pass and the Mountain Collective pass for the 2022-23 winter season. The move means that Snowbasin will no longer be part of the Epic Pass, which was launched by Vail Resorts, the company that owns Park City Mountain. Snowbasin first joined the Epic Pass in 2019.
Ikon pass holders will have seven days of access to Snowbasin, and Ikon Base Plus pass holders will have five days, according to the Huntsville resort’s website. Purchasing a full Ikon Pass includes unlimited access to over a dozen resorts in the US and Canada, including Solitude. According to the Ikon website, other Utah resorts included in Ikon Pass that include a limited number of days are Alta, Snowbird, Deer Valley, and Brighton.
The Mountain Collective pass allows up to two days of access to each included resort, as well as Snowbasin during the upcoming ski season. Among those stations on the list this year were Alta and Snowbird.
Snowbasin will join the two passes with Sun Valley, an Idaho ski resort near Ketchum. Both resorts are owned by Grand America Hotels and Resorts.
“We are excited to launch a new partner program for the 2022-23 season,” Grand America Hotels and Resorts CEO Bruce Fery said in a press release Thursday. “As we continue our legacy as two independently owned and operated premier American ski resorts, we look forward to welcoming Ikon Pass and Mountain Collective Pass holders and delivering the legendary experience which Sun Valley and Snowbasin are known for.”
Sun Valley and Snowbasin were both ranked among the top 10 ski resorts in the West by readers of SKI Magazine, with Sun Valley ranked #1 and Snowbasin #8. Snowbasin was a venue during the 2002 Olympics .
Snowbasin will also offer a new premier platinum pass for the 2022-23 season, which will include an Ikon Base Pass, which grants access to 40 additional ski resorts, including Solitude and Snowbird.
Snowbasin passes are on sale now and can be purchased online, while Ikon passes go on sale March 10.
