What is our fascination with the past? People and places from our past hold a special place in our hearts. Take the Nevele Grand Resort in the Catskills. Whether you have visited there, worked there or just remember the TV commercials, the Nevele is part of our past. Let’s take a look around the Nevele Grand Hotel as it looks today.

Scrolling through the images below, you will see the remnants of a once prestigious vacation destination in Wawarsing, New York. For 108 years, this resort has welcomed guests for skiing, skating and swimming. Today you will see that, in a way, time stood still once the doors closed in 2009. Skis, boots and skates still sit at the rental desk as if waiting to be used again.

The photos and video below will show you the old theatre, indoor skating rink, indoor and outdoor pools, ski lodge, daycare center and much more. This is a photo of the outdoor pool and hot tub. Imagine how attracted people have been to this over the years.

According to Wikipedia, as recently as January 2022, the developers are proposing a renovation and reimagining of the property and a relaunch as a new resort hotel as well as a residential establishment.

As you will see in these photos, a renovation would be quite an undertaking. It would be nice if someone brought this old resort town back to a Hudson Valley gem. Let’s see how it was before seeing it abandoned.
