Free public training session to kick off Forsrer Race Week ocean ski paddling event | Defender of the Great Lakes

news, local news,

Shaw and Partners Forster Race Week kicks off today (Thursday 21st April) and some very talented ski paddlers are lined up for Thursday’s practice at 3pm at Forster Main Beach. And the best news is that it’s free, thanks to sponsorship from FENN. Jim Walker, Cory Hill, Michael Booth and Newport young guns Mitch and Jake Morris will host the workout. The Morris brothers won the Australian Surfing titles with Mitch winning the Championships Top Competitor and his brother Jake second place. They will therefore have a lot of advice to share. This session is open to everyone, whether you are in competition or not. Bring your paddle and skis if you have one, and if you’re just a punter interested in canoeing, come check it out. Coaches will guide everyone through the inner workings of ocean paddling, how to get in and out of the surf area, and how to hold on to ocean tracks. No need to book, just be at Forster Main Beach at 3pm Thursday. More than 200 paddlers will take part in the two ocean ski racing events, starting Friday at 1pm with the Nine Mile between Black Head and Forster Beach. Saturday, again from 1 p.m., will be the big one – the Forster Ocean Classic, a 20km enduro between Elizabeth and Forster Beach.
