If you’ve done a Meijer run in Three Rivers recently, you’ve probably noticed activity near the store. Specifically, there is a major construction project going on next to the store on Broadway Road. Naturally, curiosity got the better of Three Rivers residents who wonder what the hell is going on.
A curious resident, Susan Sands, turned to social media asking:
Does anyone know what they’re building behind Meijer on Broadway?
Three Rivers residents with a keen ear were quick to respond with helpful and not-so-helpful information. Here are some elements that the new construction project won’t be:
- J.A. Preetz – “Another fast food to complain about.”
- William Warner – “Circle k (that would be awesome) not gunna lie.”
- Eric Harshberger – “We could use another General Dollar”
- Jay Levandoski – “Mall with Dollar Tree, Subway, Starbucks and a dispensary.”
It was Robert Tomlinsonwhich follows the development of this project since 2020 when it was first approvedwho came to the rescue saying,
This is an assisted living/memory care facility being built behind Meijer. It was approved by Fabius Township before COVID, and it looks like construction is finally starting.
Three Rivers Gardens
The new facility is set to open as Gardens of Three Rivers, a licensed memory care home and assisted living facility. Planned to have 60 rooms in total, the state-of-the-art facility will dedicate 30 rooms to assisted living care and 30 rooms to memory care clients.
Although residents were quick to offer other care options in town, such as Safe Haven for Assisted Living, others were thrilled to hear that there would be a new option for loved ones care in the area. Said Penny Munson Conklin, “This is great news…much needed.”
At this time, there is no official word on when the facility is expected to open.
