Why Ocean Alexander’s 37m flagship yacht is the perfect home away from home

Just four months after its unveiling, the first 36.7 meter Ocean Alexander 37L was on the water. The speed of execution was no coincidence, as her owners needed a yacht to suit their lifestyle and their desire to spend eight months a year at sea.

The American couple, great travellers, already owned a 27.43 meter Ocean Alexander 90R and the time had come to change size. “Having more space is becoming more and more important to us, especially as we continue to expand our adventures,” explains the owner. After swapping their 90R in 2022, the owners wanted to go up in size. The first flagship Ocean Alexander 37L, now named dreams, gave them an additional 7 meters in length, a fifth cabin and an additional 83 GT in volume. “As our navigation evolves, so does our family and our circle of friends!” he adds.

The owners have finalized the takeover of dreams in February 2022 with the help of Scott Robertson, MarineMax Sales Manager. “The owners wanted a yacht of about 35 meters with five cabins to accommodate more guests. They also felt that the main deck grandmaster and high-end galley were two very desirable and important features,” Robertson recalls .

The owner’s time aboard their 90R meant the family had come to know and love the Ocean Alexander brand. “By owning a Revolution Series yacht for a year, these owners were already well introduced to Ocean Alexander,” says Dan Mundy, Head of Global Distribution, Marketing, Services and Dealer Development. “The volume that we excelled in offering is what attracted them in the first place,” he adds.

Spread over four spacious decks, the amenities on board dreams offer plenty of five-star luxury hangouts for day and night. For example, the fold-out deck of the aft beach club can be extended and used as a starting point for water sports during the day. At night, this area can transform into a personal oasis for activities such as drinks at the bar or a cozy movie screening in the living room.

Another multifunctional space is the open-plan main deck. About a third of this deck is enclosed and dedicated to the master suite, while the rest is light and airy space for entertaining and relaxing. Here, the main salon, 10-person dining table, and galley are all connected and flanked by large sliding glass doors to continue the wraparound deck. “What’s most impressive about this yacht is how spacious she is, from the saloon to the skylounge to the sundeck,” says Robertson.

Owners enjoy spending time with large groups on board dreams, and have thus found its innovative privacy solutions and functional living spaces to be well suited to their lives at sea. As the work of longtime Ocean Alexander collaborator Evan K. Marshall, the design of the 37L has been given a “true penthouse feel”. Inside, there are rich materials, elegant decor and surprising details throughout. “We love the style and decor that Marshall has brought to Ocean Alexander!” said the owner. Even so, the owners took the opportunity to add some of their own customizations to the design to create their perfect yacht. “As long as it doesn’t affect the structural integrity of the yacht, we can make almost any adjustments the buyer wants,” says Sally Doleski, Vice President of Marketing for Ocean Alexander.

While dreams was built based on speculation for her debut at the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the owner added elements such as dark wood to the interior. “She was already very well equipped to present the best offering of our legacy design. After the sale, the owner then spent considerable time adding personal touches and additional amenities to maximize her yachting lifestyle,” adds Mundy These customizations suited the family’s extensive cruising plans from their home port, Ocean Reef Club in Florida.

“We moved from the Midwest to Florida and decided we didn’t want to be tied to one place when buying a house,” the owner explains. “Now we can travel to Florida, spend more time in the Keys and the Bahamas. As we travel so much, it comforts me to know that the yacht is equipped with American parts, equipment and appliances. Like when repairs are needed, everything should be much easier to get,” adds the owner.

For these happy owners, Ocean Alexander’s flagship more than fulfilled their requirements. With the next 5 units already under construction, these are just some of the underlying design features that make the Ocean Alexander 37L such a tempting proposition for yacht buyers.
