It is June, but the weather feels like winter in the high alpine regions.

Skiers or snowboarders who just can’t give up winter sports can choose to get their gear on this weekend at a Vancouver Island ski resort.

Mt. Washington Alpine Resort is open this weekend for skiing and ziplining, June 18-19.

Weather permitting, the Whiskey Jack chair will rotate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., providing access to limited terrain, including the Coaster and Terrain Park.

Eagle’s Flight ZipTour will also be open for hourly tours, soaring above skiers and snowboarders enjoying the gliding spring spins below, according to a news release from the resort.

Holders of season tickets for winter 2021/22 or those who have purchased season tickets in advance for winter 2022/23 will benefit from free access to the ski lifts for this weekend. One-day lift tickets will also be available for all ages at the box office for $29, and all dads will ski free.

Snowshoeing is also offered indoors at Sun Peaks Ski Resort near Kamloops.
